One woman was injured in a one-car accident that closed the westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills for about two hours Tuesday, State Police said.
The crash occurred at about 2:10 a.m.
Police said the woman was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with head and neck injuries, including cuts to her head. No one was charged in the accident. Police did not release the identity of the woman — and her condition was not immediately known.
Images from the scene west of Route 231 showed the mangled, overturned car in the roadway. The road was closed for cleanup following the crash, which police said destroyed a section of guardrail.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The lanes were reopened shortly after 4 a.m., according to informny.com, a website of the state Department of Transportation.
