A Riverhead man was killed early Thursday when his van hit a flatbed truck on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, NYPD said.

Andrew Ingordo, 31, of Riverhead, was pronounced dead at the scene after his van hit the truck from behind at about 4:15 a.m. near Exit 32, the Little Neck Parkway.

Police said the driver of the truck was driving westbound when he pulled onto the right shoulder area in an attempt to avoid vehicles in front of him. That's when Ingordo, driving behind the truck, struck the rear of the vehicle.

Police said there were no other injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the truck's driver remained at the scene for investigators. The right and center lanes of the expressway were closed for several hours because of the investigation, which is ongoing.
