Four officers who responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired in Central Islip early Wednesday suffered minor injuries while taking a suspect into custody, police said.

The officers were not identified and their injuries were not detailed. It was unclear if any were hospitalized.

Police said the incident occurred in a home on Hickory Street at about 2 a.m.

The initial 911 call reported shots fired through the wall of an apartment -- apparently originating in an adjoining apartment in the home, police said.

Police could not immediately say how many shots had been fired and or if a weapon was recovered. No one in the apartment was injured.

Charges against the suspect were not available.
