Firefighters from three departments are battling an early morning brushfire Thursday in Yaphank, Suffolk County police and fire officials said.

The fire, in an apparently undeveloped area along Main Street, was reported at about 6 a.m., fire officials said. Brush trucks have been requested at the scene.

Officials said volunteers from Yaphank, Ridge and Manorville were fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but the National Weather Service had issued a so-called Red Flag Warning for Long Island on Wednesday, meaning conditions were conducive to the outbreak of wildfires and brushfires. That warning was lifted late Wednesday.
