Authorities said volunteers from the Bohemia Fire Department responded to a fire at an auto body shop on Washington Avenue in Bohemia early Tuesday morning, assisted by firefighters from Lakeland, Sayville, West Sayville, Holbrook and East Islip. (Oct. 15, 2013) Credit: Paul Mazza

Arson Squad detectives are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that damaged an auto body repair shop in Bohemia on Tuesday.

Suffolk County police said the fire at the shop on Washington Avenue was discovered by an officer on routine patrol just before 12:30 a.m. The site is near Veterans Memorial Highway.

Authorities said volunteers from the Bohemia Fire Department responded to the scene, assisted by firefighters from Lakeland, Sayville, West Sayville, Holbrook and East Islip.

Firefighters were on scene for about 21/2 hours, Suffolk fire officials said. There were no reported injuries.
