Arson Squad detectives are investigating a fire in Ronkonkoma that killed one person and left another seriously injured early Wednesday morning, Suffolk County fire officials told Newsday.

The fire on Johnson Avenue was reported in a 911 call at 3:26 a.m., fire officials said, and Suffolk police said it has closed the road between Pamlico Avenue and Sycamore. Police have not confirmed the fatality, but fire officials said one person was pronounced dead at the scene while the injured person was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Neither person has been identified by officials.

Volunteer firefighters from Lakeland, Hauppauge, Holbrook, Holtsville, Nesconset and Ronkonkoma battled the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
