A water main break closed Brooks Avenue at Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset on Tuesday for several hours, authorities said Tuesday.

Suffolk County Water Authority spokesman Tim Motz said about 12 to 17 customers were affected by the break, with a report of one home being flooded.

Water service was later restored to all residents, Motz said, and the road was to be reopened by 8 p.m.

Suffolk County police said a 911 call reporting the break was received at 10:35 a.m.
