An Islip resident was found dead in a fire at a mobile home in a Main Street trailer park Thursday afternoon, an Islip Town spokeswoman said.

"Unfortunately, a male passed [away] inside one of the mobile homes," Tracey Krut said.

Two mobile homes were damaged, though not "severely," in the fire that broke out around 3 p.m. across from the Islip Middle School, she said.

Krut said Islip fire marshals are handling the investigation.

The victim's identity was not released.

The Islip Fire Department was joined by firefighters from East Islip, Islip Terrace and Bay Shore at the scene.
