One person was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with what police described as "serious" injuries after a crash in Copiague early Wednesday morning.

Suffolk County police said the accident, involving a car and a motorized scooter, occurred at 6:46 a.m. at the intersection of Campagnoli and Vespucci avenues.

Campagnoli is closed between Colombo and Verazzano avenues for investigation by detectives from the Crime Scene Unit.

Vespucci also is closed.

Those roads were closed at 7:22 a.m. It was not clear how long they would be closed.

Police have not released the identity of the injured person, other than to say the victim is a man and, likely, in his 40s.

A police helicopter was originally requested to transport the victim, police said, but was canceled due to bad weather.
