A woman in her 20s was hospitalized Monday morning after being rescued from her car, which became partially submerged in a roadside pond following a crash in Smithtown, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the woman was rescued by members of the Smithtown Fire Department using "a flotation device" to reach her and was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center for observation.

The unidentified woman was driving a Toyota sedan when she crashed through the guardrail along Route 25A, St. Johnland Road, near Summerset Drive at 8:49 a.m.

She was not charged, police said.
