One shot, one hurt in Tuckahoe home invasion

Southampton Town police are investigating a home invasion in Tuckahoe in which one man was shot and another man was assaulted on Monday morning.

Both unidentified victims survived the attack at a home at 432 North Magee St., police said.

It was unclear whether anything was taken from the home, police said. A preliminary investigation indicated the residence may have been targeted, police said.

Police said two men - one carrying a semiautomatic pistol and both wearing red bandannas over their faces - approached the house at about 9:30 a.m.

A 21-year-old resident of the house was shot in the abdomen when he tried to block the intruders from entering, police said.

A 28-year-old resident of the house tried to help the other resident when he heard a disturbance, police said. The second resident was assaulted by the intruders, receiving cuts to the face and head, police said.

The thieves went into several rooms inside the house, then fled, police said.

The first resident drove himself to Southampton Hospital, where he was treated for the gunshot wound. He was admitted to the hospital, police said. The second resident was treated and released from Southampton Hospital.
