A company is seeking permission from Brookhaven Town officials to open a business that would recycle concrete and asphalt in Brookhaven hamlet.

Our Recycling Corp. has requested a special permit from the Brookhaven Town Board to grind, shred and crush asphalt and concrete at a facility on Grucci Road. A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville.

The outdoor recycling facility would install systems to prevent dust and noise from affecting neighboring properties, town officials said yesterday at a town board work session.

The town board on Thursday also plans to hold a public hearing on zoning changes that would regulate where smoking rooms may be located. Town officials have said the changes are intended to limit hookah bars and vape stores.
