Oysterponds school district
VOTING
3 to 9 p.m. at Oysterponds Elementary School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $5,619,393 budget for 2015-16, a 1.91 percent increase from the current $5,514,318. The local tax levy would increase 1.62 percent, from $4,964,480 to $5,044,905.
The increase is below the state's tax-cap limit of 2.28 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
School taxes on the average single-family home would rise 1.62 percent, from $2,207.99 to $2,243.76.
The proposed school budget includes estimates of teacher salary increases, subject to negotiations. It cuts one teacher assistant position.
A separate proposition authorizes the district to spend up to $150,000 to replace windows at the Oysterponds School. The work will not cost additional taxes.
