Two Southold residents were pulled from Hogs Neck Bay waters by rescuers after their sail boat took on water and capsized, police said.

Rebekah Desimone, 20, and her brother Tim Desimone, 24, were found in the water about a mile and a half from shore, waving their arms at 3:52 p.m., by Bay Constable John Kirincic and police officer Jacob Bogden, Southold police said.

The rescuers were out looking for them after their mother, Kathleen Goggins, of Southold, told authorities that they were overdue after going on a sailing trip.

The two declined medical attention, police said, and were taken back to shore along with their sailboat.
