A house party turned lethal in Medford early Saturday morning, with one man shot to death and a second stabbed and being treated at a hospital, Suffolk County police said.

Darnell Smith, 36, of East Patchogue, was fatally shot around 1:35 a.m., police said.

He was taken by private vehicle to the Coram Fire Department and later taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The stabbing victim, whom police are not naming, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a large group of people fighting around 1:30 a.m. in the street near Cedar Lane and West Lane in Medford, police said.
