Judith Pascale officially "retired" before starting her third term in January as Suffolk's county clerk. As a result, she's collecting an annual pension of $115,344, on top of her $192,191-a-year salary, according to the state comptroller's office.

Pascale, 68, was legally retired for pension purposes late last year. She became eligible to collect both salary and pension when she reached age 65. The comptroller's office also said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter's annual state pension totals $80,460. After retiring as county treasurer, she was appointed to the $103,000-a-year town post, to which she's seeking election in November.-- Rick Brand
