A Patchogue woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center with serious injuries after a two-car crash Friday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Cecily Dones, 23, was driving a 2008 Hyundai sedan south on Victory Road, on the border of Yaphank and Brookhaven, at about 8:15 a.m., according to a police spokeswoman.
Dones went through the intersection at Horseblock Road, just north of Sunrise Highway, when she hit the driver of a 2004 Nissan, traveling westbound, police said.
Dones was airlifted with serious injuries; police had no other information.
The driver of the Nissan, Patrick Manning, 22, of Brookhaven, was taken by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was treated and released.
Investigators and emergency crews working at the scene closed down westbound Horseblock Road for about three hours, police said. Normal traffic resumed at 11:11 a.m.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
