Police: Assault charge for man who punched woman at Greenport bar

A Wading River man was charged early Saturday morning with punching a woman in the face at a bar in Greenport, according to Southold Town police.
Paul Houpe, 22, was at the Rhumb Line Bar on Front Street at 2:40 a.m. when he got into a confrontation with a 37-year-old woman, police said.
Houpe punched the woman in the face, knocking her to the ground and causing a laceration above her left eye, authorities said.
The woman was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, police said. Details of her condition were not provided.
Houpe was found later Saturday morning at a home in Greenport, where he was placed under arrest. He is charged with third-degree assault.
