Pedestrian, 87, killed in Smithtown

An 87-year-old Smithtown man was struck and killed early Monday as he walked along Route 25 in Smithtown, Suffolk County police said.
Salvatore Prianti was pronounced dead at the scene, in front of 994 Route 25, after the accident at 4:40 a.m.
The driver, Randy Feliciano, 50, of Smithtown, was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander westbound when the accident occurred, Monday.
He remained at the scene, police said, reporting the accident.
His vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. Police said the investigation is continuing.
