A 91-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition Monday after being struck by a vehicle in West Islip, Suffolk police said.

Vincent Curto of West Islip was hit about 8:40 a.m. by a Hyundai Genesis going west on Kimberly Place, near Higbie Lane, police said.

Curto and the Hyundai driver, Peter Porzio, 50, of West Islip, were taken by West Islip Fire Department Rescue Squad to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said. Porzio’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

The Hyundai was impounded for safety checks.
