Police seek ID of pedestrian who died after being struck by SUV on Route 111

Police are seeking help identifying a man struck by a sport utility vehicle and killed while crossing Route 111 Sunday night on the Central Islip-Brentwood line.
The victim, who carried no identification, is described as a Hispanic male, believed to be in his 30s. He was 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed 165 to 170 pounds.
Suffolk County police said the fatal accident occurred at 10:10 p.m. on Route 111 just north of Olive Street.
The 39-year-old driver, identified as Waldys Rivas-Coreas, of Brentwood, was not injured. He has not been charged, police said.
Police said the vehicle, a 2003 Acura MDX, was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
