Pedestrian fatally struck by tractor trailer in North Bellport

A pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a tractor trailer in North Bellport on Thursday night, Suffolk County police said.
Around 10:35 p.m., the man was in the roadway of Station Road, south of Martha Avenue, when a southbound tractor trailer struck him.
Police did confirm if the driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrian, whom police have not yet identified but believe was about 30 years old, was taken to NYU Langone Hospital — Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
