An unlicensed teen driving a Chevrolet Impala struck a pedestrian in Bay Shore early Saturday night and seriously injured the man, Suffolk County police said.

The incident happened about 6:10 p.m. when the 58-year-old man was crossing Union Boulevard from south to north near First Avenue, police said. The identity of the injured man, who was treated at the Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, was not released.

Police said a 16-year-old boy of Bay Shore was not injured and neither were his two 15-year-old male passengers.

The teen behind the wheel of the 2001 Impala was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
