An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed late Tuesday near an entrance to the Stony Brook University Medical Center property, Suffolk police said.
The victim was crossing the street near the intersection of Nicolls Road and South Drive at 9:05 p.m., and was struck by at least two, and possibly three vehicles, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The first two cars stopped after the accident and the drivers were interviewed by police, but a third vehicle, whose driver may have been unaware that someone was hit, continued on, police said.
Information concerning the person's gender and age were not immediately available from police, who said the victim carried no identification.
