A pedestrian suffered a serious leg injury Wednesday when a pickup truck struck him on New York Avenue in Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said.

The 27-year-old pedestrian, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, was heading west across New York Avenue about 6:30 a.m. when a southbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck hit him about 30 feet south of Pulaski Road, police said.

The pedestrian was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Another pedestrian, Jose Martinez, 40, of Huntington Station, was also struck by the truck but not injured, police said.

Patrick Anderson, 31, of Huntington Station, the driver of the Chevrolet, stayed at the scene and was not injured, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
