Pedestrian hit in East Patchogue dies
An East Patchogue man hit by a car one week ago as he walked onto Montauk Highway has died, Suffolk County police said Friday.
Guevara Diomedes, 59, was hit at about 7 p.m. Dec. 16 as he walked into the roadway in East Patchogue, police said. Diomedes was hit by a 2004 Suzuki driven by Joseph Matthews, 28, also of East Patchogue.
Diomedes was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Matthews was not injured.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
