Pedestrian hit, seriously hurt on Route 112 in Medford, police say

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Saturday night when he was hit by a van on Route 112 in Medford, Suffolk police said.
Daniel Dambrogio was standing in the turning lane attempting to cross Route 112, near Peconic Avenue, when he was struck by a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica traveling south in the turning lane on Route 112 about 8 p.m., police said in a news release.
Dambrogio, 42, of Farmingdale, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue with serious injuries, police said.
The driver of the Chrysler, Angel Mojica, 64, of Hicksville, was not hurt, police said.
The Chrysler was impounded for a safety check.
