Pedestrian struck, killed on Route 110 in N. Amityville, police say

Suffolk County police on Sunday night identified a North Amityville man who was fatally struck by a car in the hamlet as he crossed a street.
Rigoberto Galdamez-Lopez, 40, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage after the Saturday night crash, police said in a news release.
Brenda Recine, 69, of Wyandanch, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo north on Route 110 near Ritter Avenue at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday, police said. The Monte Carlo hit Galdamez-Lopez, police said. Recine stayed at the scene, police said, and was not hurt.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
