Brian Doherty, 41, was crossing Straight Path at 38th Street in North Lindenhurst when he was struck by a light-colored four-door sedan heading north at about 6:45 p.m. The motorist drove away east on 38th Street. Police said the vehicle may have front-end damage.

Police said Doherty, of North Clinton Ave., had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center by a Suffolk County police helicopter.
