Pedestrian killed crossing Route 110 in North Amityville

A man crossing Route 110 in North Amityville was struck by a car and killed Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.
Police identified the victim as Carlos Perez-Hernandes, but said his age and hometown were not available Monday.
Perez-Hernandes was attempting to cross Route 110 near Jefferson Avenue at 9:25 p.m. when police said he was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.
The Malibu driven by Douglas Aloise, 60, of Massgapequa. Aloise, who remained at the scene, was not injured and was not charged.
Police said Perez-Hernandes was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he later was pronounced dead.
The Malibu was impounded for a safety check.
Police said the investigation is continuing and are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
