A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a vehicle in Flanders on Tuesday night, Southampton police said.

Police responded to the 7:25 p.m. call to find the victim at Flanders Road near the intersection of Bayview Lane. The victim was struck by a southbound vehicle whose operator remained at the scene, police said.

The victim, who was not identified by police pending notification of his relatives, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was not identified; no criminality is suspected, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
