Pedestrian killed in Huntington Station
A Port Jefferson Station man was struck by a car and killed early Friday morning on New York Avenue in Huntington Station, police said.
Francisco Cardozo, 53, was walking in the northbound lane of the road when he was struck by a 2006 BMW driven by Jose Ramos, 32, of Bellport, at 12:25 a.m., Suffolk County police said. Ramos was uninjured.
Cardozo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
It was not clear why Cardozo was walking in the road, police said. They said the car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
