A pedestrian was killed in an early morning accident Thursday that closed Route 25 on the South Huntington-Huntington Station border, Suffolk County police said.

The identity of the pedestrian, age 45, has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Police said driver Lewis Weill, 64, of Commack, was going west on Route 25 at about 4:45 a.m. when he hit the pedestrian near Evergreen Avenue. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

No charges were filed against Weill, who remained at the scene, police said.

Route 25 was closed between Beverly and Depot roads until about 8:15 a.m., police and officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 631-854-8252.
