Pedestrian hit by car, killed in Ridge, Suffolk police say

A man died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a 2012 Kia Sorento in Ridge, police said.

A man died in Ridge after he was struck by a 2012 Kia Sorento shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.
James Kearns, 46, of Ridge, was pronounced dead at the scene, on Route 25 east of William Floyd Parkway, police said. The man was in the roadway when he was hit, police said.
No charges had been filed against the driver, a 34-year-old Ridge man, as of Tuesday morning. The safety of the vehicle will be checked, police said.
