Police have identified a man struck by two cars and killed Sunday evening in the Town of Southampton as Julio Sicay-Perez, 43, of Flanders.

Southampton Town Police said detectives were able to make the identification as a result of an "overwhelming" response by the community after the department released a photo of a tattoo on the victim's leg and asked for the public's help.

Police said Sicay-Perez was fatally struck first by a 2011 Mercedes GLS SUV driven by Sepehr Sajjad, 46, of Madison, Connecticut, as he turned from Flanders Road onto Route 105 at 7:29 p.m. Sunday in Flanders. Sicay-Perez was then struck by the second vehicle, a 2013 Honda Odyssey driven by Christian Torres-Novarro, 37, of Riverhead, police said in a statement.

Both drivers remained at the scene and neither has been charged, police said.

Crews from Flanders Ambulance and the Flanders Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The victim's family could not be reached Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
