Pedestrian struck, killed crossing Brentwood street
A male pedestrian died Thursday night after he was struck by a car while crossing Express Drive South in Brentwood, Suffolk police said.
The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was crossing the street from south to north about 5:50 p.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Lincoln LS driven by Nicholas Takaki of Brentwood, police said. Takaki, 27, stayed at the scene and no charges have been filed.
The victim was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Takaki's car was impounded for a safety check.
