Pedestrian struck by taxi in Sayville
A pedestrian crossing Sunrise Highway in Sayville early Saturday was struck and injured by a taxi, Suffolk police said.
The victim, identified only as a male in his 30s, was crossing the highway at Johnson Avenue at 1:25 a.m. when he was hit by a Colonial Transportation taxi van, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with injuries to his head and back that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
The taxi driver, who was not injured, was not charged, authorities said.
