Suffolk County police are investigating a vehicle crash that seriously injured a Bay Shore man Friday night.

Police said Mark Shumski, 47, of Bay Shore, was walking across Main Street in Bay Shore when he was struck at about 9:40 p.m. by a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse that was traveling west. The driver of the Traverse, Merrie Bartlett, 52, of Brighwaters, was not injured.

Shumski was taken by ambulance to Southside Hospital, police said, where he was listed in critical condition with a head injury.
