An unidentified pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on West Avenue in Patchogue at 9:18 p.m. Friday, Suffolk police said.

The injured man, whom police only identified as a 36-year-old Patchogue man, was taken by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

The pedestrian was in the middle of the right southbound lane of West Avenue, south of Main Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2010 Hyundai, driven by Cristina Iorizzo, 18, of Ronkonkoma.

No charges were filed Friday against Iorizzo, police said.

Investigating detectives said at least one vehicle was in the area at the time of incident, and asked that anyone that might have witnessed the crash call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
