A driver struck and critically injured a pedestrian as they and others were engaged in a late-night game with water pistols in a Kings Park parking lot, police said.

Driver Nina Lisske, 18, who was not injured, was issued a summons for reckless driving, Suffolk County police said.

The man on foot, Charles Tumminello, also 18, was hit by Lisske’s car about 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Key Food at 66 Indian Head Rd., police said.

Both are Kings Park residents, police said.

“The group was engaged in a game involving water pistols,” police said in a statement.

A police spokeswoman declined to comment further.

Tumminello was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was in serious condition Tuesday night, according to Kali Chan, a spokeswoman for the hospital.

The car, a 2001 Lexus sedan, was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Police asked anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-854-8452, or to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
