Person hit by LIRR train at Sayville
A man was hit by an LIRR train at a train crossing at 9:20 p.m. just west of Sayville, an MTA spokeswoman said.
The victim, who was on foot, survived and was taken to a hospital, the spokeswoman said.
The train, which was empty, was westbound.
The 8:53 p.m. from Jamaica to Speonk was being held at Babylon and the 9:07 p.m. from Speonk to Jamaica was being held at Patchogue.
