No one was injured but several family pets died in a house fire Sunday evening in Medford, officials said.

The residents were not home at the time, but the pets were inside the home at 195 Robinson Ave. in Medford, fire officials said.

The blaze was extinguished within 21/2 hours. It damaged the home's second floor.

The Medford Fire Department was aided by departments from North Patchogue, Holtsville and Hagerman.

The cause of the fire was unknown Sunday and is being investigated by Brookhaven fire marshals.

The fire was called in at 4:47 p.m., and the last unit left slightly after 7 p.m.
