State senators Phil Boyle (R-Bay Shore) and Tom Croci (R-Sayville) are asking the state for funding to fix the so-called “Oakdale Merge” at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Sunrise Highway in Oakdale.
The two have scheduled a news conference near the site at 11 a.m. Tuesday to ask state legislators and Gov. Andrew Cuomo to prioritize funding the project.
“The poor construction of the merge has long been a major headache for Long Island commuters and has created congestion and hazardous traveling conditions,” Boyle said in a press release.
The press conference is scheduled for the Bubbles Falls rest stop off of Route 27A in Oakdale, near the merge with Sunrise Highway.
