Sixth Squad detectives are looking for a man who used a stolen credit card to buy gas at a St. James station in September, Suffolk County police said Tuesday.
On Sept. 6, a Holbrook woman told police someone smashed the passenger side of her car window and stole her purse. Her car was in the lot at West Meadow Beach in Stony Brook, she said.
Several hours after the incident, police said one of the woman's stolen credit cards was used to buy gas at the A & A Gas Station on Middle Country Road in St. James.
Police have released photographs of the man taken from surveillance cameras at the gas station.
Police said he was driving a red pickup truck, possibly a Ford Ranger, with new plates and items loaded in the truck's bed.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
