Suffolk police are trying to determine who was driving a sports car that crashed into a wooded area in Wheatley Heights, killing a 19-year-old woman Saturday morning.

The 2002 Chevrolet Camaro veered off Colonial Springs Road and into the trees at about 4:20 a.m., claiming the life of a backseat passenger identified by police as Carla Flores of Wyandanch.

Police said two men were in the front seat and they don't know which one was behind the wheel.

Joseph Dunn, 20, of Dix Hills, the car's owner, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Brandon Charles, 19, of Wheatley Heights, refused medical treatment for a minor injury.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police department's Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
