Police: 101-mph driver drunk on parkway
A West Babylon man was drunk when he drove 101 mph Tuesday on the Southern State Parkway in North Bay Shore, State Police said.
Steven Lello, 24, was driving his black Toyota Solara 101 mph in a posted 55-mph zone in a westbound lane of the parkway at about 5:23 p.m., police said.
After pulling over Lello's vehicle near Fifth Avenue, Exit 42N, troopers "detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage," according to a news release.
Lello failed sobriety tests, police said, and provided a breath-analyzer reading of 0.13 percent.
Lello is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and traffic violations.
His arraignment information was not immediately available.
