Police: 2 men took GPS from car

Suffolk police Sunday arrested two men after Best Buy Geek Squad employees saw them breaking into vehicles in the Gateway Plaza parking lot in Patchogue, authorities said.

The Geek Squad employees were in the parking lot at 499 Sunrise Hwy. North Service Road about 3 p.m. when they saw a man later identified as Michael Diorio, 23, of Medford, look into a Ford Explorer, open the door and remove a GPS device, according to police.

The Geek Squad employees told police they then saw another man, later identified as Justin Skura, 22, of Bellport, pick up Diorio in a Dodge Stratus. After Diorio put the GPS in the trunk, the two drove a short distance off, parked and began walking through the crowded parking lot.

Based on the Geek Squad description of the two, offier Michael Ferrara found Diorio, and officers Lauren Ruggiero and David Kolesar found Skura.

A fourth officer, Bryan Lawrence, found the GPS in the trunk of Skura's car, police said.

Diorio was charged with larceny and possession of a hypodermic needle. Skura was charged with possession of stolen property.

The two are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
