One woman was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after police said three adults and a baby were struck by a car sent careening out of control following an accident Sunday night in Shirley.

The baby was uninjured, Suffolk County police said, and two other adults suffered leg injuries.

Police did not identify anyone involved in the accident on William Floyd Parkway near Surrey Circle at about 6:50 p.m.

No one was charged.

Police said the woman was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident started when two northbound vehicles collided, sending one of them onto the sidewalk -- where it struck the victims.

Two people in the car that was struck, sending it out of control, were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
