Police: 2 injured in accident on Sunrise Highway in West Babylon
Police said a man and a woman were injured in a one-vehicle accident that closed two lanes of westbound Sunrise Highway on Friday morning in West Babylon.
Suffolk County police said the crash occurred at 9:56 a.m. between Exit 40, Route 231, and Exit 39, Hubbards Path.
The vehicle, a 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer, crashed into the median, according to the 911 call. Police said the driver, identified only as a 19-year-old male, and a 20-year-old female passenger both suffered non-life-threatening injuries -- and were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
The right and middle lanes had been closed, along with the westbound exit ramp at Exit 39; they reopened at 11:45 a.m., police said.
