Suffolk County police said Louwanda Jackson entered the bank, at 1880 Middle Country Rd., about 11:15 a.m. and verbally demanded cash from the teller and verbally threatened violence. The teller gave Jackson cash from the drawer, police said. Jackson then fled the bank on foot, police said.
Police said Seventh Precinct Officer Kevin Gleason responded to the robbery and apprehended the suspect in the parking lot. Police said the money from the robbery were recovered.
Jackson, 46, of Williamsburg Court in Ridge, was charged with third-degree robbery. She is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, police said.
